Yogi Prakash, the founder and chairman of Shanti Yoga Ashram, began studying yoga at the age of 12. At this young age he knew that was what he was meant to do with his life. Initially, his parents disapproved of him learning yoga so he snuck out of the house early in the morning and offered vegetables from the family garden as payment for class. His unwavering determination finally earned his family’s support and he was sent with blessings to India where he completed a teacher training certificate course at Bihar Yoga University and was initiated by Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati.

Returning to Nepal, the land of Tantra, he deepened his knowledge by studying Kundalini and Tantra yoga with Swami Shivalingam for the next twelve years. He also lived in and volunteered with various projects for three years at an ashram dedicated to helping children, and introduced yoga to the Ashram by teaching classes.

Since childhood Yogi Prakash had a vision to open a school to teach spiritual sciences and in 2001 he established Shanti Yoga Ashram. Since then it has been attracting spiritual seekers from all over the world for the authentic yogic experience and the deep Tantra Yoga teachings that cannot be easily found elsewhere. At the Ashram he leads workshops and teacher training courses. His personal attention and care for every student make everyone feel at home. His magnanimous nature and great capacity to teach allows him to transmit the spiritual essence of Tantra Yoga to his students with joy and love.

With 12 years of experience, in 2010 he brought another dream into fruition with the launching of Divine Yoga School; a school for local children whose mission is to equip them with the academic knowledge needed in today’s modern world along with the spiritual wisdom acquired through the practice of Yoga, Meditation, and Vedic studies.

In the last few years, Yogi Prakash has been teaching throughout Europe, the U.S., and India. Furthermore, with the intention of making Tantra Yoga available in the west, he has established Shanti Yoga Ashram U.S.A., a non-profit organization dedicated to sharing this profound wisdom. His mission is to preserve the ancient teachings in their pure form and to spread this light of Tantra throughout the world.

Growing up in a family of physicians and healers, at an early age I developed a natural instinct to care for the health of those around me, and to ease the suffering of those in pain. My family's deep spirituality and celebration of our Indian heritage, ingrained in me a deep respect and understanding of Hindu/Vedic traditions. These two greatly defining aspects of my life are beautifully expressed in my profession, my passion, Ayurveda.

Avani shares her wisdom here at the immersion  with a special emphasis on Tantric goddesses and the healthy powerful potency required to fully take in their transmissions and abundance for the most magnificent life. 

Being brought up in an ancient Hindu temple clan family, under a very religious dad who was a great devotee of Krishna and a disciple of Swami Chinmayananda, an Indian sage and mystic, I was introduced to the traditions of mantra and prayer chanting at a very young age.

My mind however, used to question all that I used to see and read. I still remember the time I was a defiant 8 year old, when Swami Chinmayanda told me -- “Young inquisitive boy! Do not go in search of money, go in search of truth!". Thanks to this said “inquisitive” mind the cosmos bestowed upon me, I have always been a voracious reader and explorer of various occult traditions.

In my university days, I was an active member of the student Christian movement. However, the concept of a “God” who rewards for being good and punishes for being bad never really appealed to me. What IS good and what IS bad? Who actually decides that? Even if you choose to observe one society, what constitutes good or bad within that society changes as time passes.

In my search for the vibration of the cosmos that I could relate myself perfectly to, I stumbled upon the western female Goddess Lilith. It may be that due to my “pious” and traditional upbringing, my mind ended up being a rebel, never being able to relate to the gods and goddesses of traditional Indian culture.

However, the more I researched Lilith, the more I was drawn to her. I felt like there was a call from within me, telling me that I will find the light and understanding from the chaos. Lilith was the embodiment of this chaos – A demoness for the conservative minded, but a goddess for the free thinkers of the world.

My experience with mantra science and meditation practices helped me connect with Lilith very fast and she was soon something like a soul mate to me. I could talk and joke with her in ways I could never even imagine with traditional Indian goddesses. 

Having Lilith as a guide and with many years of research and experience on the subject of mantras, I soon realized that she was organizing some of the scattered information in my mind in a proper sequence.
